Exam Technique

Teachers know that lazy students often excel in exams and hard-working students fail. It's totally unfair. Why does it happen? The good news is that you can join those who would rather be out on a date than studying and still ace your exams.

Let me give you a simple quiz. An expert carpenter is best at carpentry. An expert plumber is best at plumbing. An expert chef is best at cooking. So which of the following would be best at passing exams?

  1. Expert carpenter
  2. Expert at exam techniques
  3. Expert at plumbing
  4. Expert at cooking

If you didn't guess number 2, tips'study is probably too late to rescue you. You probably still believe the old fable that people who know most about the topic pass exams.

Below I have checked out some websites which have advice about passing exams etc:

http://www.ehow.com/education/

Exam technique and the way in which you answer the question is KEY but READING the question thoroughly and reading ALL of the question is is the key to exam technique!

I always find myself getting stressed and in a panic about exams, that's just who I am. I have difficulty sleeping which affects my concentration my appetite goes and I get very nervous about things with anxiety attacks. Just talking and being prepared helps to calm me down.

Have you really even understood what the question is asking you? Make sure you understand COMMAND WORDS in the question and you know what they mean.

Plan your time well....how many marks is the question worth and how much time do you have. Therefore how many marks per minute is it?

Be prepared, make a revision timetable?
